My copy of Eternal Darkness arrived today. Japanese version. Can happily say that my guess that the dialogue would be in the original English was correct. You can even choose between Japanese and English for the subtitles. I've read that there is Latin dialogue at certain points in the game, so the English subs are a relief. Ingame text such as menus and item descriptions are all in Japanese.

I can already see why you like this game, MechaCthulhu. Major Lovecraftian overtones.

I cannot recall when Latin pops up in dialog form, but be prepared to be impressed when you start casting spells.

Scored it for ¥600ish this evening. Along with a GameBoy Player for ¥500 and a second Donkey Konga drum controller for ¥150. Games shopping is fun again!

A little late to the party I suppose, but the Gamecube was one of my favorite systems ever. I sold it when I got a Wii, but I still have plenty of Gamecube games in my collection. I absolutely love Tales of Symphonia (one of my favorite games ever) and the Paper Mario game. I was also pretty addicted to Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. That was an excellent golf game behind the cartoony appeal of it.

And then of course there are the Pikmin games. Again, 2 more games in my Top 10 of all-time. Those games were magical. I'm dying for a Pikmin 3 announcement. Make it happen!

So I finally bought a copy of The Twin Snakes. You know what, when I put it in the GC, it grabbed me by the proverbials and wouldn't let go. I'm only just past the tank battle with Vulcan Raven, but already it is pretty damn awesome.

IMO, the gameplay tweaks don't ruin the experience or really change it all that significantly. Actually, I like the option of putting people to sleep with a handgun rather than killing them. The updated motion capture and character models are great. Really brings parts of the story alive that feel flat in the original, by comparison and in retrospect. For example, the encounter with "the ninja" after the Ocelot battle is really gripping stuff.

This is gonna tide me over until Red Dead Redemption arrives in the mail.

Full English support on the Japan release, by the way.
